UCLA-Kern Child & Adolescent Fellowship

The UCLA-Kern Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship was accredited by the ACGME in October, 2007, and started it's first Fellows on July 1, 2009.

The program offers a dynamic and versatile environment in which you may pursue your academic interests, while experiencing community psychiatry in both a rural and urban setting.  Our fellows spend one four month rotation at the UCLA Semel Institute of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences in the Child and Adolescent Division's ABC Children's Program, a day treatment program for ages 3 through 12.  The UCLA-Kern fellows are integrated into and participate fully in the CAP Fellowship program at UCLA, interacting with the UCLA faculty and fellows on a daily basis.

The UCLA-Kern psychiatry programs has developed a county-wide telepsychiatry network, which has been recognized as a model for an integrated telemedicine program by the State of California.  The UCLA-Kern CAP fellows will have a wide range of richly diversified experiences in outpatient services, school consultations and emergency psychiatry, as well as research opportunities.  The UCLA-Kern fellowship is staffed by six full time and one part time board certified child psychiatrists, who bring a wide range of academic and clinical experience to the program.

UCLA-Kern participates in the National Residency Match Program, and we currently do not offer pre-match positions.  Application forms can be requested by calling 661-326-5411, or by e-mail to princel@kernmedctr.com.  Applications should be submitted during September, and interviews will begin in late October and may go through early December.
