Maureen Martin, MD, FACS, FRCS(C)
Dr. Maureen Martin, a noted hepatobiliary and transplant surgeon, was recruited to KMC in 2002 as Chairman of the Department of Surgery. She has been in clinical practice, teaching and research for over twenty five years. Under Dr Martin’s leadership the Department of Surgery has flourished with the recruitment of a dynamic team of board certified fellowship trained specialists in trauma and critical care, orthopedics and joint replacement, otolaryngology and head and neck oncology, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery and micro-vascular hand surgery. These highly specialized surgeons strive to reduce the need for referral of patients to other centers beyond the Central Valley. Dr. Martin has been instrumental in developing KMC’s novel bariatric and breast programs to better serve our community.
KMC surgeons now provide unique expertise in trauma and critical care, orthopedics, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, head and neck oncology, brain tumor and skull based surgery, lung cancer, bariatrics and the new “Sleeve” Program, and most recently our multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Program. Dr Martin and her colleagues offer frequent consultations and second opinions, as well as review journal articles for major publications in their specialties.
Dr Martin enjoys all aspects of general surgery but has a special focus on hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, foregut cancer, bariatric, and breast conditions.
