Who Let the Dogs In

The Auxiliary is bringing Pet Therapy to Kern Medical Center. In preparation for a Pet Therapy program, Sherry Davis, owner of CSI 4 K9’s and Barbara Lee, a TDI Certified Evaluator were invited to bring their therapy dogs, Tiger Woods and Frank to a special meeting on Wednesday, August 20th.

Kern County Conference on Aging at California State University, Bakersfield

Our population is aging rapidly, and Kern County faces a serious shortage of healthcare workers trained and fully prepared to care for its oldest patients. Three years ago Kern Medical Center (KMC), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), California Geriatric Education Center (CGEC), and California State University of Bakersfield (CSUB) partnered to create a center of excellence in Geriatric Care at Kern Medical Center.

Community Heart Screenings

October 15, 2014 we will host our 1st Community Heart Screenings to teens and young adults in an effort to catch those with heart defects or abnormalities that may be at risk. But even with heart screenings over 10,000 die every year from sudden cardiac arrest.
