A New Class of Medical Residents and Fellows Start Training at Kern Medical Center

Kern Medical Center (KMC) plays a vital role in providing health care services to our community and training medical professionals as the only academic medical center in the region. As part of this responsibility, KMC serves a critical function as a safety net provider with its faculty and medical resident physicians caring for a significant number of the County's underserved population.

Kern County Conference on Aging at California State University, Bakersfield

Our population is aging rapidly, and Kern County faces a serious shortage of healthcare workers trained and fully prepared to care for its oldest patients. Three years ago Kern Medical Center (KMC), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), California Geriatric Education Center (CGEC), and California State University of Bakersfield (CSUB) partnered to create a center of excellence in Geriatric Care at Kern Medical Center.

National MS Society, Kern Medical Center Set to Launch Telemedicine Program

After more than three years of planning, purchasing and installing equipment, and training staff, the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society in partnership with Kern Medical Center and UCLA will officially launch a telemedicine program to bring access to MS specialty care to the uninsured and underinsured in Kern County.

Community Heart Screenings

October 15, 2014 we will host our 1st Community Heart Screenings to teens and young adults in an effort to catch those with heart defects or abnormalities that may be at risk. But even with heart screenings over 10,000 die every year from sudden cardiac arrest.
