Surgery Residency Program

Kern Medical Center's General Surgery Residency is a five-year program that graduates two chief residents each June. The program was reviewed by the RRC in 2013, and received full accreditation.

While the majority of clinical and didactic education take place at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, we utilize a number of hospitals in Bakersfield as well as Children's Hospital Central California, Community Regional Medical Center (Fresno) and UCLA to provide a complete residency training program.

The program at KMC is free-standing.

This residency program participates in ERAS and all applications are accepted through ERAS ONLY!
